The Water Quality Research Foundation (WQRF), formerly the Water Quality Research Council (WQRC), was formed in 1952 to serve on behalf of the Water Quality Association (WQA) as a universally recognized, independent research organization. WQRF's Vision is water quality improvement through relevant research and Mission is advancing knowledge and the science of high quality, sustainable water. Since inception, WQRF has funded numerous data collection projects and research studies which have generated essential information on water quality for the industry, policy-makers and general public.

National Data Collection and Contaminant Occurrence Map
The new Contaminant Occurrence Map displays data in the United States for 57 drinking water primary and secondary contaminants. The data was collected directly from the States, UCMR4, and SDWIS. The project resulted in 10 years of data and over 59 million data points.

This study was the first comprehensive database of the causes for boil water notices issued (2012-2014) in the 155,000 documented public water systems in the United States.

The study, available on Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District's (MMSD) website, can be used as a model approach in areas struggling with chloride discharge.

Final Barrier Cost Benefits

This study establishes a cost – benefit relationship of using a point-of-use (POU) device as a Final Barrier in homes to significantly lower health risks by removing/reducing contaminants of concern from drinking water to the lowest feasible level.​
