HOUSEHOLD PATHOGEN SURVEY: AT THE TAP
|
This study demonstrated a proof of concept using point-of-use filters as a method for monitoring tap water quality over long time periods in lieu of grab-samples. Executive Summary Full Report Toolkit |
Our Water Pathogen Survey demonstrates a proof-of-concept for using point-of-use (POU) filters to monitor common microbial pathogens, like bacteria and viruses, directly from tap water over extended periods, rather than relying on one-time grab-sample testing. By evaluating filter performance for pathogen removal and detection, this study provides valuable insights into water quality for researchers, public health officials, utility operators, and water professionals. It highlights a novel, effective approach to track household drinking water contamination and enhance consumer protection.
