State primacy agencies and public water systems were surveyed to better understand how each state utilizes and manages Point-of-Use (POU) and Point-of-Use (POE) technologies for compliance.
Executive Summary SDWA State Rules Report Case Study: Arizona Case Study: California Case Study: New Hampshire Case Study: Oregon 1-Minute Video |
Our Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) case studies examine how state primacy agencies and public water systems implement point‑of‑use (POU) and point‑of‑entry (POE) devices to achieve SDWA compliance. A national survey across 38 states finds that 61% of responding states authorize and actively use POU/POE systems, while others cite cost, maintenance, and operational barriers. Detailed case analyses from Arizona, California, New Hampshire, and Oregon highlight policy frameworks, technical requirements, and outreach strategies. This research offers actionable insights into regulatory drivers, water treatment solutions, and consumer protection efforts.
